Israel Strikes at Heart of Arafat-Assad Plan
August 27…. Ali Abu Mustafa was the notorious George Habash’s successor as secretary general of the PFLP, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which hit the headlines in the seventies and eighties as the radical Marxist super-terrorist, hijacker of international airliners and hostage-taker. His liquidation by two Israeli missiles that crashed through the window of his Ramallah office near Arafat’s headquarters Monday morning is the most meaningful and audacious operation Ariel Sharon has thus far ordered since becoming prime minister last March. Formerly based in Damascus, Mustafa moved to the West Bank in 1999 in a move to end years of estrangement with Arafat. Political and intelligence sources describe the hit as a military threat to Syrian President Hafez Assad, warning him to keep his hands out of the Palestinian Intifada and a warning to Arafat that if he takes his Intifada across the border, and co-joins the Syrian-Hezbullah operatives, he will do so at his own personal peril. Yasser Arafat is presently attempting to mend fences with Assad and Syria, and plans to visit Damascus soon. Syria has long been upset with Arafat for proceeeding along the Oslo peace process without coordinating his negotiation standing with the Syrians, and their demands for the return of the Golan Heights. Syria is demanding that Arafat must agree to coordinate all Palestinian military operations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with Damascus. The Abu Mustafa hit warned him: first , Israel will not let him go to Damascus; second, Israel will not let him sign a military pact with Syria; third, Israel will not stand by if he pushes ahead with his plans for a Baghdad-Damascus-Gaza-Hizballah anti-Israel axis; and, fourth, defying Israel on all three points will place his life in peril.Assad: Israel will lose in war with Syria
August 27…. Syrian President Bashar Assad said that war with Israel was a distinct possibility, and in such a scenario Israel would be on the losing side in the long term. He also said that "the Oslo Accords no longer exist." "We believe that military strength is likely to lead to victory in one or several battles, and in the short term Israel would win," he said. "But Israel will be the main loser in a long-term confrontation, not Syria." We will destroy Israel ultimately! In regard to the planned visit of Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat to Damascus, Assad said, "We welcome him at any time he wants." Assad also stressed that Arafat's visit needed to be well-planned, to ensure that positive results would be guaranteed in advance. According to Assad, Syria is demanding from Arafat "excatly what the Palestinian people themselves want: a comprehensive and just peace in which occupied Arab lands are returned, a Palestinian state is established with its capital in Jerusalem!Note: Mr. Assad is very badly mistaken! Syria will be the loser in any war with Israel! (Isaiah 17) Syria is a non-factor when Russia finally gets involved in the great invasion on Israel.
Syria Reportedly has Taken Direct Control Of Lebanese Army
August 28….Syria, alarmed by rising unrest against its occupation of Lebanon, has reportedly seized direct control of the Lebanese military. Lebanese opposition sources said the regime of President Bashar Assad has ordered a direct takeover of the Lebanese military command. The sources said Syrian officers have moved into key posts in both the Lebanese military and security services. In addition, the sources said, about 5,000 Syrian soldiers have been incorporated in the Lebanese military. These Syrians now wear Lebanese army uniforms. Opposition sources said the crackdown on anti-Syrian activists earlier this month was directly led by Syrian commanders in the military and security services. They report that the Syrian takeover came after Lebanese President Emil Lahoud hesitated in detaining hundreds of Christian nationalists.Note: Syria would naturally solidify its stranglehold on Lebanon in the anticipation of war with Israel. Syria, logistically needs the south Lebanon region to militarily assault Israel. Since Israel is in possession of the Golan Heights, Syria needs the Lebanese venue to counter Israel’s defenses. ( The Golan is a natural geographic defensive barrier ) Israel’s occupation of this region has checkmated Syria’s aggression for 28 years.
IDF Forces move into Beit Jala
August 29…. Israeli special forces moved into the Palestinian snipers nest encamped in the Christian community of Beit Jala, a small town between Jerusalem and Hebron. Palestinian snipers, under orders from Yasser Arafat have been using the town to fire mortars and gunshots into the small Jerusalem suburb of Gilo. The residents of Beit Jala had long ago complained about the terrorists using their community as snipers nest.
Targeted Assasinations by Israel
August 29….Israel has for weeks now been systematically targeting known planners and operatives of Palestinian terrorist activity. This week’s assassination of Abu Mustafa has outraged the Arab world, and brought intense scrutiny and condemnation of Israel from the nations of the world for these pinpointed killings. The US State Department joined the list in calling these actions "provocative" and a needless escalation of violence. Ironically 75% of Americans view these targeted killings as an appropriate measure against terrorism. On the other hand, 80% of Palestinians support the random suicide killings ( untargeted ) of innocent Israeli civilians.Note: The targeting of "known mass Killers" of innocent people is justifiable! Imagine the outrage the world would heap at Israel if they acted as the PLO-Hamas acts, and "did not"- "single out murderers" for their selected targets, but just randomly retaliated against innocent by-standing Palestinians! Peace cannot possibly be accomplished or manufactured with murdering thugs like Yasser Ararfat and the PLO-Hamas . The poor Palestinian peoples need leaders that are honorable and truly desire peace, and will work for a better life for the people.
Read Poetry Not the Bible, Says Bishop
August 30….The Scottish Episcopal Church should abandon the Bible in favor of Scottish poetry during sermons because it would rejuvenate the "mystery of religion" one of its former leaders claimed yesterday. Bishop Richard Holloway, who retired as Primus of the Church last year, said he believed Christianity had become too much of a science, by giving answers to complex questions which essentially removed the uncertainty and the doubt of religion that had first attracted him to the priesthood. Giving the final lecture at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Bishop Holloway said: "Authors and poets are the priests of our day. Christianity continues to churn out its facts, boring certainties and the oppression of good people who simply want to love. Religion has lost the mystery. I now read more Scottish poetry than scripture because it exalts me." He added: "I think the Church should scrap the Bible, and listen to the words of these poets." The Bishop was speaking about his 23rd book Doubts and Loves: What is left of Christianity in which he recounts his own 54-year struggle with a religion he said he "perhaps carelessly" gave his life to.Note: The good Bishop is full of baloney! The Bible is the core of Christianity, and the only source for sermonizing. The Bible is God’s communication to the human race. Without the Bible, everything is swallowed in Mystery. The church of Apostasy is synonymous with Mystery Babylon! The "mystery of religion" is the Devil’s playground. ( Lets hold fast to the word of the Lord, using it to reprove, rebuke sin, and exhort sound doctrine )
2 Timothy 4:1-4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Singer Tells of Rescue from Homosexuality, Freedom in Christ
August 30….A former homosexual who says Christ delivered him from that sin is now using music to proclaim the true freedom found in Jesus. For most of his life, Stephen Bennett was involved in the sinful activities surrounding homosexuality. But nearly ten years ago, after several visits from Christian friends who shared the gospel, Bennett made a life-changing decision. "Two very unique, certain events had transpired," Bennett explains. "I came to salvation in Jesus Christ, and ... instantly God had delivered me from the homosexuality." The former homosexual says Christians need to rethink how they treat those caught in the sin of homosexuality. He suggests they concentrate more on sharing the gospel with homosexuals. "The thing that we have to realize is that through Jesus Christ, the old man is dead, a new creature is raised in Christ, and we don't have to be a by-product of our childhood or our past," Bennett says. "God has got a perfect plan for each of us and we really need to fulfill that and we can find that in God's Word."Note: What a novel idea: sharing the Gospel with sinners! Perhaps Bishop Holloway, ( mentioned in previous article) would prefer sharing poetry with sinners.
Perverting the Natural Design
August 31….In a recent Zogby poll taken of American high school students, it was revealed that 85% of seniors think that gay and lesbian relationships are normal, and should be embraced as a normal alternative lifestyle. High school students ( 67% ) believe that gay marriage should be made legal.Note: Perilous times will come in the Last Days. Men/women will be without "Natural Affection". Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Assassinated PFLP head authorized Kindergarten attacks
August 31….IDF Security sources revealed late Thursday night that the Shin Bet security service has uncovered a plan to carry out a wave of attacks on kindergartens and schools to coincide with the start of the new school year that was authorized by the assassinated Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine secretary-general Mustafa Zabri. According to the reports, Zabri (Abu Ali Mustafa) had marked out on maps the locations for planting car bombs. Israel killed Zabri in a missile attack on his Ramallah office on Monday. The targeting of Zabri had been authorized by the inner cabinet, led by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, several weeks before his killing after information was received from the Shin Bet that implicated Zabri in PFLP terrorist operations.Satanic Warfare against the Woman ( Israel )

Arafat Blasts Israel as "Racist" State
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat used a United Nations conference in Durban , South Africa on Friday to blast Israel as a racist'' state and accused it of ethnic cleansing. Condemnation of the Israeli occupation and its racist practices and laws, which are based on racism and superiority, is considered today an urgent demand by our people,'' Arafat said at a panel meeting of leaders assembled at the U.N. World Conference against Racism. "Their brutality and arrogance is moved by a mentality of superiority that practices racism and racial discrimination, that adopts ethnic cleansing,'' Arafat said. This historical conference represents a decisive historical turning point in the position of all humanity vis-a-vis racism, discrimination and racist practices which are all incorporated in the Israeli occupation of and settlements in our homeland, Palestine,'' Arafat said.
US backs Israel at UN
August 21…. The UN Security Council met yesterday to discuss Palestinian demands for international monitors to be sent to the Middle East. However, the US, which has veto power in the council, again backed Israel and called the proposed Palestinian resolution one-sided and unworkable. In an unofficial draft resolution circulated by the Palestinians, demands include international monitors, Israeli withdrawal from all Palestinian buildings in Jerusalem, financial support from the international community, and a return to Israeli military and negotiating positions as existed in September. The Palestinians have also been attempting to get the UN to debate the issue of Zionism being equal to racism. The UN repealed its policy equating Zionism with racism prior to the Persian Gulf War in 1991. The UN had resolved that Zionism was racism.Peres to Meet Arafat in Berlin
Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat are expected to meet in Berlin within the next few days. Yasser Arafat, becoming more and more estranged from the international leadership, seized the lifeline dangled by the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres and handed him by the German foreign minister, Joschka Fischer. He finally "agreed" to meet Peres early next week. Arafat, issued a call to his gunmen in Jerusalem, and throughout the West Bank to cease firing at the Israeli’s last week after Israel had mounted a tank battalion to enter his PA areas. Arafat is therefore perfectly capable of halting the violence whenever he chooses. He has chosen to do so at this time to try to put himself back in the international spotlight.Hundreds of UFO Sightings Reported in Israel in August
AAugust 22…. Since the beginning of August hundreds of reports concerning strange lights and unusual aircraft have been reported in the Mid-east, particularly in and around Israel. On Thursday, August 1, the Israeli newspaper Maariv published the startling photo of a UFO on its back page. Michael Lindemann of the ISCNI Flash has reported many UFO sightings in Israel this summer. According to the ISCNI Flash, vol. 2, #10, part 2, UFOs have been seen in upper Galilee, in the Dead Sea region, flying over Haifa Bay, and in the Jordan River Valley.Note: The 20th century phenomena of UFO sightings began in Israel in 1947. It seems that the angelic realm ( good and evil ) is heavily interested in Israel today!
Christians Surrounded in Central Indonesia
August 22….A 3,000-strong Muslim jihad force closes in on 28,000 Christians in Tentena, Central Sulawesi. Tentena is a town of 5,000 people normally, but is swollen by Christians fleeing the menace of the jihad force in the entire Poso district. Since June of this year, a strike force of at least 2,000 so-called "jihad warriors" have "cleansed" the town of Poso and the surrounding district of Christians. Christian Pastors from the area have requested international help to avoid a bloodbath. If we do not get help soon, thousands of Christians will cease to exist by year's end," said a pastor from the area. "We cannot count on government forces to protect us as we have seen time and again the police especially have joined the jihad forces. More than 12 million people live on Sulawesi, a large spidery-shaped island in the middle of the archipelago that makes up Indonesia, Asia's third largest country. The island is 70 percent Muslim with a large, mainly Protestant Christian minority of around 25 percent. The Muslim Jihad warriors are seeking to eradicate Christians from the island.Note: Islamic Jihad warriors are inflicting persecution on people from the Atlantic to the Pacific ( Sudan, Indonesia, Israel, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Ethiopia )
Five Palestinians killed by IDF near Nablus
Five Palestinians were reportedly killed by IDF gunfire overnight in the Nablus area.
Key White House policy and political operatives are doing more than crafting new messages and building new coalitions; they're also meeting together for prayer and Bible study from noon to 1:00 p.m. each Thursday. The prayer meeting draws some four dozen staffers from all over the White House complex. The meeting also includes individuals from presidential personnel, speech-writing, public liaison, the office of the White House Counsel, the Vice President's staff, and even White House interns. Another prayer and Bible study involving career government employees who work in the White House complex meets on Tuesdays. The meetings, organized by long-time Bush aides who held similar prayer meetings in Texas. They are to give Christians the opportunity to break away from their high-stress work for an hour and remember in whose kingdom they really serve.Great Week For Aliyah
A record number of new immigrants, 1,225 people arrived in Israel this week from different parts of the world. This is the largest weekly number since the beginning of 2001. The Jewish Agency reports that 240 youngsters arrived on two flights from the former Soviet Union this week. Immigration leaders thanked them for coming to Israel, and told them that there is nothing more important to the Jewish people and the State of Israel than aliyah. In all, 43,000 olim (new immigrants) have come to Israel since the current violence erupted eleven months ago.Bush Blames Arafat for Middle East Deadlock
August 24….President Bush on Friday blamed the Palestinians for deadlock in the Middle East conflict and said their leader Yasser Arafat could help stop the violence if he gave a 100 percent effort. The Israelis will not negotiate under terrorist threat. It's as simple as that,'' he told a news conference in Texas, in language that put the burden for progress toward talks squarely on Arafat's shoulders. If the Palestinians are interested in a dialogue, then I would strongly urge Mr. Arafat to put 100 percent effort into stopping the terrorist activity and I believe he can do a better job of doing that.Three Israeli Soldiers Killed in Raid on Gaza Base
August 25….Two guerrillas killed three Israeli soldiers and wounded seven after storming into an IDF army base in Gush Katif, a base near a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip on Saturday in one of the most daring Palestinian attacks in 11 months of violence. The military wing of the radical Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), the Palestinian National Resistance Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack inside the IDF base.
Sharon vows to keep grip on all of Jerusalem
August 13….Ariel Sharon, the Israeli Prime Minister, vowed yesterday that he would never allow the Palestinian Authority to re-establish itself in Jerusalem and declared that key properties seized by Israeli forces in the Arab half of the city would remain under Israeli control indefinitely. The Israeli government issued a statement declaring that all "Activities of a diplomatic or administrative character, by a foreign entity inside the State of Israel, without its consent, constitute an infringement of Israeli sovereignty.
The IDF forces which commandeered the Palestinian Authority Orient House have acquired numerous documents indicating a vast network of espionage activity being carried out there.
Israel’s Seizure of Orient House Strikes at Heart of PA
Built in 1897, Orient House, with its striking colonnades and lovely verandas is situated in the heart of an area that is still entirely Palestinian. Slated to become the eventual capitol of a new Palestinian state, had the Oslo Peace Process reached a successful conclusion, Orient House symbolizes the demolition of Israeli hopes to find someone on the Palestinian side with which to make peace. To the Arab world, Orient House represented the Arab political control over Jerusalem. Next to the Dome of the Rock, and Al Aksa mosque, the Orient House symbolized the most significant structure of Palestinian authority. Israel has thrown down the gauntlet against Arafat.
August 13….The Speaker of the Palestinian legislative council Ahmed Qureia (Abu Ala) said Sunday that Israel's take-over of Orient House and the governor's compound in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Dis reflects Israel's real intentions to occupy the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount itself. The head of the Tanzim militia in the West Bank, Marwan Barghouti, said Saturday that the Palestinians would respond with severity to the occupation of Orient House. "The Israelis are now occupying (Orient House)," said Palestinian Legislative Council speaker Ahmed Qurei . "I think the Israelis have made a very big mistake to open the "Battle over Jerusalem". He called for a "day of rage" in Jerusalem, and vowed to bring a deadlier Intifada to Jerusalem.Haifa Café hit by a Suicide Bomber
August 13….Yet another crazed fanatical Muslim suicide bomber walked into a Haifa café and pulled the detonator to body-strapped bomb. The detonated a bomb on the patio of a restaurant in Kiryat Motzkin, a northern suburb of Haifa, killing himself and injuring 21 Israelis. The Haifa bombing was claimed by Islamic Jihad, a rival to Hamas. The announcement also said that the bomber was a member of the "Jerusalem battalion", named Mohammed Mahmoud Nasr, 28, from a village near the West Bank town of Jenin. It also pledged to "send more martyrs on the road", to kill more Israeli’s, in every quarter of Israel.
A Palestinian suicide bomber in a car blew himself up at an Israeli army checkpoint, injuring a soldier, while Israeli helicopters carried out two missile raids on Palestinian security outposts Wednesday in the latest burst of Mideast violence. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, on a visit to Turkey, reasserted that his government would not revive peace negotiations with Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority until there's an end to the more than 10 months of violence.
Marwan Barghouti Emerging as top Palestinian official
Yassir Arafat, the Palestinian leader, was urged by Marwan Barghoutyi, one of the most prominent members of the Fatah movement to form a new "national unity" government that would include the radical Islamist groups, and step up the intifada,or uprising, against Israeli occupation. Marwan Barghouti, who has become popular among Palestinians in the occupied West Bank for his high-profile role in leading the intifada, used a press conference with foreign journalists to openly criticize Mr Arafat's Palestinian Authority, saying "we need to correct a lot of things". Mr Barghouti's comments, though amounting to a challenge to Mr Arafat's authority, suggests that he believes Fatah must close ranks, particularly with Hamas.
America’s rejection of Israel’s Biblical Deed
Ever since Israel won Judea, Samaria and Gaza in the 1967 Six Day War, the United States has insisted on classifying these territories as "occupied." Ignoring Israel's biblical, its historical and legal rights to these areas, America has joined the world in condemnation of Israel. By ignoring the fact that Israel acquired these territories in an act of self-defense, when all of her neighbors threatened her with extinction, it makes very little sense that American Presidents have stubbornly held to the "international"view that Israel should "return" the regions of Judea, Samaria and Gaza, and cease from settlement building in these areas. In adopting such a position, the US has essentially rejected the Christian concept that Israel has a Biblical claim on the land!Note: This diplomatic situation underlies the reality that America is no longer a Christian nation.
Russia Projects Middle East War Soon!
August 13….Russian defense officials and strategists project that an Arab-Israeli war could erupt in the Middle East over the next three to six months. The widely-held scenario described a war that would engulf Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, according to senior Russian diplomats. The trigger for the war could take place in September. The Russian analysts expect an Israeli offensive against the Palestinian Authority triggered by Palestinian bombings of Israeli cities. Such an offensive, they said, could prompt Egypt to direct its Third Army to enter the Sinai. Israeli tanks rumbled into the heart of the West Bank town of Jenin early on Tuesday in the most far-reaching incursion into Palestinian-ruled territory yet.Note: You will notice that Russian military experts did not include Iran in the immediate prognosis for a Middle East war. Iran will be an ally of a secondary Russian invasion into the Middle East.
Iraq Declares Military Support For Syria
Iraq has offered to lend Syria military support in any war against Israel. The offer was relayed to Syria during the current visit by Syrian Prime Minister Mustafa Miro to Baghdad. Iraq has deployed troops near both the Jordanian and Syrian borders. Over the last year, Iraqi and Syrian military commanders have discussed the prospect of a war against Israel. In Cairo, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak sent a high-level delegation to Washington to discuss increasing military tension in the Middle East. Egyptian Information Minister Sawfat Sherif said the meeting reviewed potential Israeli military moves against the Palestinians. This includes the takeover of the Orient House, the PLO headquarters in Jerusalem, and anticipated Israeli moves into West Bank cities.Note: Here is more evidence of Bible Prophecy coming to fruition. These two countries coupled with the radical terrorist operatives in the West Bank operating under Arafat and company are clearly identified as a major catalyst of succeeding events which occur during the Tribulational era.
IDF Erases Headquarters of Palestinian Suicide Squads
August 14….Israeli tanks moved into the West Bank city of Jenin and flattened the offices of known Hamas and Holy Jihad operatives. The defense establishment has labeled Jenin the "city of bombers" since at least eight Hamas and Islamic Jihad suicide bombers had come from there.
Bulletin: August 15
Arafat: Israel to build Third Temple on Al-Aksa site!
Israel intends to build the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in order to strengthen its hold on Jerusalem, Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat told Arab information ministers in Cairo today. The Third Temple will be built on the site of Al-Aksa Mosque, Arafat said.
UN Security Council to Discuss Middle East
Despite the opposition of the United States and Israel to the convening of the Security Council to discuss the conflict in the region. On the agenda will be the situation in the territories, "including Jerusalem," as well as the renewed Palestinian request to discuss the deployment of international observers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The Arab initiative, which was organized at the behest of the PLO, comes in response to Monday's IDF operation in Jenin, in which Israel penetrated into the heart of a Palestinian city for the first time since the major cities were handed over to the Palestinian Authority.Israel halts attack after US warning
August 16….Israel halted plans for a second ground attack into Palestinian territory after the United States was said to have warned Ariel Sharon, the Israeli Prime Minister, against increasing the violence. After a day of shooting between Palestinian gunmen and Israeli troops on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Israeli tanks and infantry were reinforced around the Palestinian town of Bethlehem and, in particular, above the Christian hillside village of Beit Jala. Beit Jala has been utilized by Palestinan snipers to shoot into south Jerusalem neighborhoods, intentionally endangering the Christian community of Beit Jala. The Israelis called off their operation, despite encouragement from Ehud Olmert, the Mayor of Jerusalem, and even Mr Sharon, who said in a speech that the time had come to settle "the problem of Beit Jala" once and for all. President Bush made a public intervention when he described the Israeli intervention on Monday in the Palestinian town of Jenin as a "provocation".Note: One must wonder why it is a provocation, and an escalation of violence when Israel acts to defends itself against terrorist attacks. Why don’t we ever hear the escalation, or provocation words attached to the first-strike terror activities of the Arafat-PLO killers. Yasser Arafat only wants UN monitors stationed in the region so that Israel will not be able to retaliate against Arafat when he sends his murdering thugs into Israel to randomly kill innocent citizens.
War in the West Bank
If pollsters took a global survey asking what is the major stumbling block to peace in the Middle East, the top answer would likely be: Jewish settlers on the West Bank. Nearly all the world’s nations support the Palestinian claim that the Jewish settlements there are illegal. For Jews, the West Bank of the Jordan River is Judea and Samaria, the land of their forefathers. The Bible calls it "the mountains of Israel." It is the place where God spoke to the prophets and it is the absolute foundation point for Jewish history. The Israelis took control of Judea and Samaria, as well as Jerusalem, in the 1967 War with the surrounding Arab states. Palestinians outnumber Jews by a large margin in Judea and Samaria. But this territory, smaller than Delaware, was promised to Abraham and conquered by Joshua for the Israelites more than 3,000 years ago.
Arafat is a Murderer, not a Peacemaker!
Below is a picture of the younger children of the Shigueschuurder family, Leah (L) and Haya (2nd R) who were both wounded, Raya (2nd L) holding Chemda, and Abraham (R) who were killed in the August 9, 2001 suicide bomb blast in Jerusalem. A Palestinian suicide bomber killed at least 15 people, including six children, and wounded about 90 when he detonated a nail-packed bomb in the Jerusalem Sbarro pizza restaurant crowded with families. The Shigueschuurder parents also died in the blast.
The major world powers have blasted Israel for its takeover of the Palestinian headquarters
Note: The world seems to be more concerned about prohibiting Israel from acquiring Jerusalem than condemning terrorists.
US and British planes strike in Iraq
August 10….U.S. and British warplanes bombed three sites in southern Iraq on Friday. The planes struck targets described by the defense official as "a military communications center, a surface-to-air missile launching site and a radar" - all elements of Iraq integrated air defense network. All three targets were in southern Iraq, where U.S. and British planes have been enforcing a no fly zone since shortly after the end of the 1991 Gulf War.Terrorists Kill Teenage Girl on Mount Gilboa
August 10…Malka, 17, was killed and three other teenage girls were wounded, ne of them seriously, when Palestinian terrorists opened fire at their car en route to Kibbutz Merav on Mount Gilboa. Police said the gunmen fired from ambush as the girls were returning to their homes on the kibbutz, apparently from an outing in Beit She'an. The driver, a young woman doing national service, was not hit and managed to carry on to the entrance of the kibbutz.
Jerusalem police closed down the PLO’s east Jerusalem Orient House headquarters and nine other Palestinian buildings, while the IDF has taken control of Palestinian military and political headquarters at Abu Dis just outside Jerusalem this morning. The IDF also attacked the Palestinian Authority's West Bank police headquarters in Ramallah. The compound in Abu Dis was slated to have become the future official parliament area for a Palestinian state. Far more than any military operation, Israel’s takeover and shutdown of institutions signifying a Palestinian state presence in Jerusalem are a severe political and psychological blow to Palestinian aspirations and to Yasser Arafat’s pride. It is a reversal of the most important of his gains from the Oslo Accords of 1993. However, the raids were less than many Israeli’s wanted. Many are calling for the elimination of Yasser Arafat himself.Note: Israel has tried to accommodate Arafat at every turn, but this action reveals that Israel has given up on the Oslo process. Arafat could have had a state, and been the leader of that state, but he has chosen to opt for the extermination of Israel.
Bulletin: Jerusalem Suicide Bomber Kills Eight
August 9…. At least eight people were killed and more than 70 wounded when a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up on Thursday in a crowded Jerusalem pizza restaurant during the busy lunch hour. The blast shook the busy shopping district in the heart of Jerusalem, blowing out the shop windows of the Sbarro's restaurant on Jaffa Street, the city's main thoroughfare. The bomb had been packed with nails to make it more deadly.
August 9…. Just inside the ancient walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, Israeli archaeologists have begun unearthing what they believe are parts of a palace built for King Herod about 2,000 years ago. The archaeologists say they have uncovered five walls from two different periods. Four of the walls, built with square limestone blocks, run parallel to each other and probably formed the foundations of Herod’s palace. Israeli archaeologists believe the fortress of the king, who reigned from 37 B.C. to 4 B.C., was located a few dozen yards away from the dig under what is now a police station. They base their theory on descriptions of the area by first-century historian Flavius Josephus and their knowledge that Herod built structures on large platforms. Both the Temple and Herod’s palace were destroyed by the Romans when they conquered the city in A.D. 70. One of the retaining walls survives as the Western Wall, the holiest site where Jews can pray today.Tens of thousands of Iranians rally against Israel, US
Tens of thousands of Iranians marched through Tehran this morning chanting "Death to America! Death to Israel!" in a rally in support of the Palestinians. As they marched, the demonstrators chanted "God is Great!" as well as "Death to America Death to Israel!"
Jerusalem Restaurant Bomb Kills 18
August 9….Eighteen people were killed and nearly 90 wounded when a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up on Thursday in a crowded Jerusalem restaurant during the busy lunch hour. The blast shook the central shopping district in the heart of Jerusalem, blowing out the shop windows of the Sbarro restaurant on Jaffa Street, the city's main thoroughfare. Ambulance crews carried badly wounded people on stretchers as those with less severe injuries watched, dazed expressions on their faces. Many of the wounded were covered in blood, their clothes stripped from them by the blast. Hospitals reported 87 people were wounded in the blast, including four babies and two children. Witnesses described seeing at least one girl lying dead at the scene.
August 7….Some of the nation's evangelical leaders are hoping thy can wield some political capital with the White House and influence U.S. policy in the Middle East. They are urging President Bush to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem because, the Holy Land belongs to the Jews. Congress passed a law in 1995 aimed at moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, but President Clinton used an escape clause allowing him to postpone the move on national security grounds. During the 2000 presidential campaign Mr. Bush promised to implement the law. However, in June he signed a waiver postponing any relocation for six months. They characterized PLO leader Yassar Arafat as not being a "legitimate negotiating peace partner," and that U.S. policy was driven by concern over Arab oil, not the Palestinian uprising or terrorism in Israel.Arafat and PA Said To Be On Verge of Collapse
Senior Palestinian officials are warning of a collapse of the regime of Yasser Arafat. The officials described a state of chaos in the Palestinian areas of the West Bank and Gaza Strip amid an escalating economic and military crisis. They said Arafat, chairman of the Palestinian Authority, has refused to address the issue. Over the weekend, the Palestinian Wafa news agency urged an end to Palestinian attacks against Israel. The agency said the attacks are counterproductive and hurt the Palestinian cause abroad. For his part, Arafat has warned of an impending collapse of the PA. Israeli peacenik sources indicate that Arafat might even be assassinated by Palestinians unless Israel lends a helping hand to prop up the Arafat regime. Shimon Peres and his Labor peace-at-any-price associates fear that the loss of Arafat will destroy any legitimate hopes of a peace deal. There is growing support and solidarity among the Palestinian population for Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Some reports indicate that Arafat is considering a Palestinian National Unity Front against Israel. Arafat seems to have placed too many of his cards on the wrong side of the table, by inciting the Temple Mount violence. He now faces assassination threats from multiple fronts.Note: Arafat’s refusal of peace at Camp David may have bought him some powerful enemies!
Moderate Egypt and Saudi Arabia Now Talking War
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher yesterday called Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's government a "gang of assassins". Egyptian President Mubarak has repeatedly denounced Ariel Sharon as a legitimate leader. A top Saudi Arabian official says moderate Arab states Egypt and Saudi Arabia should not rule out war with Israel. Ghazi Al-Quseibi, the Saudi ambassador to the United Kingdom, says Arab states need to overcome their fear of a war with technologically superior Israel, a war, whose result is not inevitable if the Jewish state is forced to fight on two fronts.Note: The Northern faction of Islamic states ( Syria, Iraq, Iran ) can pose one front.
"Kill Jews and conquer Israel"
Following are excerpts from a sermon given by Sheik Ibrahim Madhi at the Sheik ’Ijlin Mosque in Gaza and recently broadcast on official Palestinian Authority television:
