Sept 14….Yasser Arafat is now adjusting his conspiratorial designs of hatred against Israel. He made a point of publicly donating blood for victims of the American tragedy. He has been rocked by the reality that he can no longer play the diplomatic-terrorist double agent. He is also heavily concerned that Israel will assault the PA while the worlds attention is diverted away from Israel to the event-shattering drama in New York City. He has made it a priority to quell the Palestinian display of euphoria over the attacks on the U.S. Arafat knows that retribution is forthcoming for terrorist organizations, and he is the world's most infamous terrorist! Mr. Arafat was implicated in the 1993 WTC bombing, but was extracted from that association by the geopolitical powers in the West who wished to prop him up as the leader of a proposed Palestinian state, which could be coerced into a peace pact with Israel, thus completing a circle of security around Israel! Arafat bolted from that scenario last year at Camp David, and cast his lot with the radical Muslim terror organizations and state sponsors of terror in the Middle East!

Sept 14….Waging war requires careful planning, as does the "after-war" too. The reason Yester-years' enemies, Japan and Germany, are democracies allies today is because much effort was placed in ensuring they prospered in peace, once the war was over. There can be no halfway marks in this conflict. There can be no stopping short of the final objective. And this means planning for the "after-war" with a concerned effort to address the problems that brought us to war in the first place.

There will basically be two issues at hand. The first is a legitimate demand by the Palestinians for a settlement in the Middle East dispute. In the after-war, the World Order will need to broker a settlement and the Palestinians will be aligned into the New World Order Plan, and made into allies where they can prosper in dignity in a democratic world. That in itself, will greatly defuse the negative energy presently directed against the United States. The world is united against terrorism." But at the same time, the world should be ready to offer an alternative, a New Marshall Plan to settle the Middle East, Palestinian territories and Afghanistan. This scenario sets the world stage for the emergence of a Religious and Secular World Leadership!

Islamic Glee

This is one of the most difficult reports I have ever written. I debated waiting a bit to send it out, due to the deep grieving that is still gripping my native land as decaying bodies are dug up from the rubble of the destroyed World Trade Center, and as people gather for a special national day of prayer. But it was precisely the day of prayer that led me to send this out now, so that it might play a role in some people's intercession on this mournful day, and during the traumatic ones that lie ahead.

I have been probing the reaction of some personal Islamic contacts to the horrendous terrorist assault upon America. The street celebrations that swept many Palestinian towns and other Arab centers throughout the Middle East accurately reflect the gleeful feelings of many Muslims, I was told. The reasons for this are chilling, to say the least.

Essentially, I have learned that many Muslims see the coordinated attacks upon New York and Washington as signaling the imminent end of American hegemony in the world. My sources say that Muslim fundamentalist states and groups, who have viewed the USA as the main world obstacle standing in the way of the spread of their faith for decades, began to perceive a way to bring down the great empire during the Viet Nam war. They were greatly encouraged that a relatively weak Asian army could essentially defeat the awesome American military machine. They pointed out that the central method of warfare used by North Vietnam had nothing to do with matching US military might, but consisted of demoralizing, deadly hide and seek guerilla attacks. After Saigon fell in 1975, many Muslims likened the humiliating superpower retreat to the ancient rogue assaults that eventually brought down the morally decadent Roman Empire. The more radical Muslim groups were also highly encouraged by the ability of Islamic militants to humiliate Soviet forces in Afghanistan in the early 1980s, seeing this as signaling the eventual triumph of militant Islam over Communism as well.

I have uncovered much evidence over the past few months that the very lukewarm backing that the West has given to tiny Israel in her long and bloody struggle against Islamic terrorism has further heartened many Muslims. Any Israeli military response to outrageous attacks upon civilian buses, shops, restaurants, etc has usually been met with open rebukes from the "Christian" world. I suspect that the inability of much of the West to understand and fully back Israel's lonely fight is now coming back to haunt the free world.

My Muslim sources admit that the Gulf War was a serious setback to militant Islamic aspirations. The successful use of sleek and sophisticated weapons by the United States and its Western allies (especially Britain, which is almost equally hated by Islamic extremists even as the UK is used as a major staging ground for international operations) deeply humiliated America's manifold Muslim opponents. But it also redoubled their resolve to bring down the US giant, and then later deal with its powerful regional ally, Israel.

I was told that America's Islamic enemies concluded in the 1970's that the great United States could eventually be brought to its knees by internal guerilla-style terrorist strikes that would wreak emotional and economic havoc on the large country. America's gigantic warships, far flung military bases, missile arsenals, international alliances and sophisticated satellite systems would prove basically useless to fight such a war, they surmised, and might even add to the chances of ultimate Islamic success since they would give a false sense of security to the "arrogant" superpower.

As the 80's progressed, and even more so the computer-crazed 90's, Muslim militants realized that the main target for attack should be lower Manhattan, since that would severely injure the massive US economy--the key element in her international power and prestige. This conviction was strengthened by the internal collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 90's, leaving a shell of an empire that did not have enough money to sustain its global alliances and enormous military machine.

As many terrorism experts have already reported, I was told that Islamic cells have been quietly preparing for an internal attack upon New York (and also another key target, Washington) for many years. This confirms what I learned from an FBI source in the mid-90's. Many regional Muslims understand that Osama Bin Laden merely acts as an agent for several Islamic states who all hate America, especially Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and Sudan, along with militant groups in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and elsewhere in the sprawling Muslim world. They are convinced that he possesses several small nuclear "suitcase bombs" that were put together by the Soviet KGB. These are very low level bombs compared to what America and several other countries deploy in their vast nuclear arsenals. However, they are perfect for achieving the Islamic militant's goal of striking surreptitiously at America's economic and political center--and thus reducing the rest of the country, and indeed much of the world, to frantic emotional and economic panic and chaos.

If good portions of Manhattan and Washington DC were suddenly reduced to rubble, where would America's surviving leaders order their military forces to strike in response? Would nuclear-tipped missiles be fired at Baghdad because they suspected that Saddam had a hand in the unprecedented, shadowy terrorist attacks? Would they level other Islamic states, or even the entire Muslim world, killing millions of civilians who had no say in what their despotic leaders might have sponsored? Would they strike at China, suspecting that the Communist government in Beijing might have supported or sponsored such an attack?

I was told that Islamic nations believe that they would suffer very minimal retribution for secretly sponsoring such a devastating blow on America, precisely because of high US moral standards that would preclude massive strikes at mere suspect states. Thus, the classic Islamic method of focusing on clandestine terror cells that only answer to their immediate superiors--whose members do not even themselves know who is ultimately behind their devious actions--would basically succeed in dealing a huge blow to the United States without suffering much harm in return. (This is possibly best illustrated in miniature by the Pan Am terrorist attack that ended with the jet crashing into Scotland over 12 years ago, leaving nearly 300 people dead. The deadly assault has basically gone unanswered until this day since the ultimate sponsors have never been clearly pinpointed).

So this is where we now stand. I was told that the likelihood of more attacks upon America is very real, especially given what many Muslims perceive as the enormous success of this week's terrorist strikes. With the President's jet scrambling around the country in apparent fear, with the nation's representatives rushing out of the capital building two times in response to bomb threats, with a portion of the Pentagon itself destroyed, with many of the men and women who run the world's largest stock and bond market either dead or wounded, and, most importantly, with a sense of terrorized fear gripping many Americans, Islamic militants believe they have won a victory beyond their wildest dreams. As was the case with Israel's quick military retreat from Lebanon and inability to stop a year-long terrorist war, they feel that they are definitely on a winning, Allah-sanctioned roll.

If America is brought to its knees, the way is open for a new world order. Most militant Muslim states believe it will eventually feature them at the helm, especially if they can also subdue the increasingly powerful European Union. However, as I projected in my end time novel, I suspect that it will be the EU that emerges as the new global leader when all of the dust settles, based on the apocalyptic prophecies found in the book of Daniel. However, I do not believe there is any biblical reason to say that the United States will disappear. My homeland has indeed displayed its share of arrogance and has exported much sin over the past few decades, along with many good and positive things. It surely is in need of some corrective judgment from the throne of the Lord, but not destruction, I believe. One thing is crystal clear: There is much room for prayer as this historic week comes to a close

Sept 13….The difference between the international anti-terror coalition that US President George W. Bush is building and the alliance his father, former president George Bush, formed during the Gulf War is that this time, Israel will be a full partner, a senior Western diplomat told The Jerusalem Post yesterday. President Bush said the cooperation of an international coalition would allow him to "rout out and whip" the terrorists. He warned that regimes that harbor terrorists would be held accountable for their actions. The president received the backing of NATO countries when the alliance yesterday invoked its mutual defense principle for the first time in history. The UN Security Council's unprecedented condemnation of terror will also give Bush's coalition a free hand. The diplomat said that Bush would face the same organizational issues in forming the coalition that his father was up against in 1990. It took the former president two months to assemble his coalition against Iraq, which left out Israel in order to avoid offending Arab sensibilities. The source said the emerging picture is that Israel's inclusion in a coalition against terror may allow it to participate in attacks against Iraq, as well as Iran and Afghanistan, but Israel will be subject to limitations.

Sept 12….JERUSALEM - Former prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu called upon all democratic nations of the world to join an international coalition to crush the terrorist organizations and the regimes that sponsor them. Netanyahu warned last night that the attacks could be a harbinger of worse tragedies that could kill millions of people once Iran or Iraq acquire nuclear weapons. "We must build a coalition against terror today, when our power is unmatched, because tomorrow it could be matched," Netanyahu said in a news conference at Jerusalem's King David Hotel. "It's times to take on militant Islamic regimes with a great deal of strength. We should crush the terrorist infrastructure that threatens the entire free world."
Netanyahu predicted that yesterday would be a turning point in the history of the United States, similar to Pearl Harbor. He called upon the United States to lead the effort against "the Bin Ladens, Arafats, and Saddam Husseins of the world." The former prime minister said he predicted massive attacks on the World Trade Center shortly after the last attack on the building, and in his 1995 book Fighting Terrorism. "After an interlude of several years in which the vigil against terrorism was relaxed, new forces of domestic and international terror have emerged," Netanyahu wrote in the book's prelude. "Chief among them are the various strains of militant Islam, which likewise see their ultimate destiny as leading to a final confrontation with the Great Satan, the United States." Netanyahu scoffed at former prime minister Ehud Barak's plan for separation from the West Bank, saying that Israel cannot build a fence taller than the Twin Towers. He warned that terror attacks on Israel are only a preparation for more serious attacks against the US. The fact that no organization took responsibility for the attacks is irrelevant, Netanyahu said, because the root cause of the attacks are "terrorist states like Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and the Palestinian entity" that want to "devour the West." "For them, our free civilization is satanic - an abomination that should be wiped off the face of the earth," Netanyahu said. The former prime minister added that there is not a people in the world that identifies with the agony the Americans are going through more than Israel, and that he "speaks for all Israelis" in saying the hearts of Israelis are broken by the tragedy.

Sept 12….Before the dust and debris even settles in the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor, the question of responsibility is on everyone's mind. Some analysts suggest the flamboyant attack involving the commandeering of multiple U.S. airliners and suicide crashes into strategic targets has the signature of Saudi terrorist Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden is known to have pilots on his payroll and has been fond of airliner hijackings in the past. But Bin Laden hardly operates in a vacuum. In fact, he has close ties with many other terror groups and leaders -- including Hamas and Yasser Arafat. WorldNetDaily reported last April that Bin Laden was set to join Arafat'suprising against Israel. According to the intelligence report, the U.S. tipped off Israel that Bin Laden's al Qaeda cells and networks in Lebanon were complete and ready to launch strikes in Israel. They operate under the command of Imad Mughniyeh, terrorism and intelligence consultant to Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the report. As former head of the Lebanese militant Hezbollah's security apparatus in the 1980s, Mughniyeh was responsible for the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy and Marine barracks in Beirut and the blasting of Israeli locations in Argentina. The Bin Laden-Mughniyeh alliance for terrorizing the West is long-standing. It was forged in the early 1990s by the Egyptian-born former U.S. army sergeant Ali Mohamed, who, on Oct. 20, 2000, became the first of bin Laden's associates to plead guilty in a U.S. court to conspiring with the Saudi terrorist. Mohamed's confession is the key to convicting the five suspects (of a list of 22) who are currently on trial before the Manhattan federal court for the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 223 people including 12 Americans. The U.S. indictment against him cites Mohamed as revealing that Bin Laden and Mughniyeh carried out joint operations in the past with direct support from Iran. Furthermore, Arafat's organization has experience and history in hijackings. In September 1970, the Fedayeen hijacked four aircraft in one day. Even today in the Palestine Authority's official newspapers, suicide bombers were once again glorified. In Al Hayat Al Jadida, the man responsible for a suicide bombing two days ago was characterized as a "hero."

Sept 12….The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks on the World Trade Center. This report, from a television station in Abu Dhabi, is unconfirmed. The DFLP was formed in 1969 with an estimated membership of 500. It was originally based in Syria, but the location of its current headquarters is unknown. The DFLP receives financial and military aid from Syria and Libya. It operates in Syria, Lebanon, Israel and the occupied territories. Its leader is Naif Hawatmeh, according to Israeli-based Interdisciplinary Center.

Sept 12….Egyptian students, taxi drivers and shopkeepers crowded round television sets stacked up in electrical store windows in downtown Cairo Tuesday evening, celebrating a string of elaborate attacks on New York and Washington. "Bullseye," commented two taxi drivers as they watched footage of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York shrouded in plumes of smoke after two presumably hijacked planes slammed into them earlier in the day. Another Egyptian man, Gawish Abdel Karim, told AFP he was pleased with the wave of violence in which another plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, the heart of the US defence establishment. "Nice work," said Abdel Karim, who drives a car for an Asian embassy. "The Americans have forgotten that God exists. They have us by the throat and now they find themselves in a science fiction film scenario, but this time Rambo's not there to save the White House." Anti-US sentiment has mushroomed on the streets of Egypt and other Arab countries over its widely-perceived support for Israel over the Palestinians in the past 11 months of violence in the Middle East.

Sept 12….National security expert, Col. Stanislav Lunev, the highest-ranking military officer ever to defect from Russia, Col. Lunev has served as a consultant to the CIA, the FBI and the Defense Intelligence Agency. His analysis:

1. Last year, Col. Lunev wrote that the U.S. had been the main target of terrorist groups and the nations that support them. The actions today against the U.S. should not be surprising.
2. The successful attack today by this well organized terrorist group is the result of almost ten years of a deterioration of America's national security appaparatus - including the emasculation of American intelligence gathering capabilities.
3. American officials and experts have been saying the threat of an attack like this or worse was a real one.
4. What countries are involved is difficult to say. It is Col. Lunev's belief that more than one country was involved in this operation - and perhaps several.
5. Do not forget that Russia remains the number one sponsor of training for terrorist nations. You will find the countries behind this will have very close ties to Russia's military and intelligence agencies.
6. Simple logic cannot be applied to the behavior of these terrorist groups and states. I believe that the terrorist acts conducted could be the first wave of more significant acts that could take place - even in the next few days. Perhaps for the next 3 days there will be quiet, and then another strike, perhaps more massive than those already delivered.
7. These people are not stupid. They'll use all weapons available to them. Do not underestimate the brutality of these people. The next time, even in the next several days, do not exclude the possibility they will use chemical, nuclear and biological weapons against America.

Sept 12….Palestinian Authority officials have warned news photographers, if you broadcast photos of celebrating Palestinians, you will be expelled.At least two news organizations, a large news agency and a foreign TV network, had footage of the celebrations in Nablus and Ramallah that included Palestinian policemen shooting in the air in joy within a crowd of hundreds.Senior officials in the Palestinian Authority contacted the heads of the news organizations, threatening the lives of the cameramen and stringers in the field and that if they broadcast the reports that they would not be allowed to cover events within the Authority in the future.

Sept 10….Two suicide bombers and a drive-by shooter yesterday left five Israelis dead and more than 80 wounded. In the worst incident, Mohammed Shaker Habeishi, an Israeli Arab, blew himself up at the Nahariya railway station, just as the Tel Aviv-Nahariya train pulled up to the platform. Three people - Jerusalem architect, Dr. Yigal Goldstein, 47; his relative by marriage, Morel Drapler, a Mevasseret Zion photographer; and Danny Yifrah, 19, a soldier from Pisgat Ze'ev near Jerusalem - were killed in the blast.
The Nahariya bombing followed a morning drive-by shooting incident on the Jordan Valley Highway in which a van carrying teachers from Beit She'an to their schools in the region came under gunfire. One teacher, Sima Franko, 24, and the driver of the van, Yaakov Hatzav, 42, were killed in the attack. In the Israeli resort of Netanya, a Palestinian detonated himself when a booby-trapped car exploded next to a bus stop packed with IDF soldiers.

Sept 10…Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat is planning to escalate terrorist attacks, in order to provoke Israel into acting in a harsh retaliatory manner that would bring the issue before the UN Security Council. (is this controlling the violence?) Israel is now facing an octopus-like mechanism with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Tanzim and Hezbollah serving as its different terrorist arms. Their modus operandi and their locations are different but there is collaboration. Arafat is giving the go-ahead to the terrorists, and there is no doubt that the overall responsibility for terrorism lies with the PA leaders. Arafat has pulled them together around the lowest possible denominator and can no longer change direction. The Arabs' failure at the Durban Racism conference and Arafat's persistent inability to "internationalize" the conflict by bringing foreign troops here as observers leaves Arafat with only one international forum: the UN, which has historically ruled against Israel.

Sept.10….US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld voiced support yesterday for Israel's retaliatory attacks against Palestinians terror, saying: "I think that any time people are doing suicide bombings and blowing up your people at bus stops and in restaurants, you certainly cannot sit there and tolerate that."

Sept 7….John Paul II encouraged religious leaders toward dialogue, saying, "In a visible way you show people how to overcome one of the most delicate frontiers of our time." The Pope made his point in a message sent to a gathering of religious leaders at the 15th International World Meeting of Prayer. "Dialogue among the different religions not only averts the deadly ghost of religious wars, which bathed in blood so many periods of man-kind´s history, but above all it establishes firmer peace conditions," the Pontiff stated. The Pope made a clear proposal: "As believers, we all have a weighty, but also passionate and urgent duty: The name of the one God must become a name of peace and an imperative of peace." "I have a great vision before my eyes of all the people of the world walking from different places around the earth to gather in front of the one God as a single family," John Paul II revealed.

Sept. 6…..At least 30 hard-line Palestinian terrorist organizers have been killed so far by Israel's security service. The Shin Bet has had an enormously successful operation, tracking, and killing known Palestinian military leaders from groups such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Since the beginning of the latest Palestinian Intifada (uprising), Israel has targeted, and assassinated about 30 leaders of these terrorist organizations. Could Arafat himself be on such a list? What would happen if Arafat mysteriously expired? Arafat is reportedly very worried about being a target of any number of hit-lists, and has prepared a number of escape routes in the event that his bloody-terrorist trail is uncovered.

China will soon deploy its first road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles, a new long-range strategic weapon whose predicted range includes the western United States, The Washington Times has learned. U.S. intelligence agencies detected the Chinese military's formation of the first missile units equipped with Dong Feng-31 missiles in July, and the Pentagon believes the first missiles will be fielded by the end of the year. Dong Feng means "East Wind" in Chinese.

Sept 6….Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has called upon Russian Jewry to immigrate en-masse to Israel. Appearing before representatives of the Jewish community in Moscow last night, Sharon said that Israel needs another million Jews in the coming years in order to guarantee its Jewish majority. He spoke of the success Israel has had over the past decade in absorbing the previous wave of a million Russian Jews, and expressed his confidence that it can be done again. The Prime Minister also stated that the main obstacle on the way to peace is Arafat," Sharon said,. "He [Arafat] has created a coalition of terror...His signature is nothing more than a signature on a piece of ice." Sharon suggested peace talks could resume if Arafat were replaced by a more moderate leader.

Sept. 5….Construction of Rome's Coliseum may have been paid for partly with booty that Roman soldiers took from the Temple in Jerusalem nearly 2,000 years ago. Roman legions destroyed the magnificent Temple, successor to a structure built by King Solomon in the 10th century BCE, in quelling a four-year Jewish revolt in CE 70. Based partly on what is said to be a fragmentary inscription from the Coliseum floor, classics professor Louis Feldman from New York's Yeshiva University writes that booty from the destruction partially financed the arena that became one of the great showplaces of all time. On the Arch of Titus near the Coliseum, visitors can still see an ancient carving of the Temple loot being carried by Roman soldiers.

Sept 5…Jordan's King Abdullah (L) greeted Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at the Royal Palace in Amman. Speaks to reporters at the Amman airport, Saud al-Faisal warned on Wednesday that the situation in the Middle East was ominous because of Israel's violence against the Palestinians. He warned that the escalation of violence by Israel could lead to regional warfare. He also reiterated the theme that is prevailing throughout the Arab world this week, " Israel is exercising racist agendas against the Palestinians".

Sept. 4….Another suicide bomber blew himself up in downtown Jerusalem around 7.45 A.M. Tuesday morning, injuring 12 people. One person was in serious condition, two sustained moderate injuries, five light-to-moderate wounds, and the rest were lightly injured. The explosion took place near the Bikur Holim Hospital on Hanevi'im Street, which is near the Sbarro restaurant in the capital where a suicide bomber blew himself up several weeks ago, killing 15 people. Jerusalem police chief Mikki Levy said that the blast was "extremely powerful." He also said that the bomber blew himself up as he was being checked by two Border Police members who had stopped him after being alerted by pedestrians. A doctor at Bikur Holim hospital said the injured were suffering from burns, and injuries inflicted by the nails, screws and shards of metal contained in the bomb.

Sept 4….A statement adopted yesterday by some 3,000 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) declared that Israel is a "racist apartheid state" and guilty of "war crimes, acts of genocide, and ethnic cleansing. The draft statement expected to be adopted by a vote of governments this week also brands Zionism as being solely "based on racial superiority." The other ironic result of the conference, whose full name is World Conference on Racism, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerance, was to demonstrate just how alive and potent anti-Semitism is, in that it can be spread with impunity by formal international bodies. Not satisfied with their attempt to rob Israel of any shred of legitimacy, the NGOs even deleted clauses that opposed anti-Semitism. As Alan Baker, the Foreign Ministry's legal adviser put it, "The conference was turned into a circus for Israel-bashing. The head of the UN, Kofi Annan, announced that the Holocaust of the Jews in World War II should not be used to justify the "Israeli oppression of the Palestinians". The same people who have always denied there ever was a Holocaust in World War II were there demanding that Israel be liquidated and its population exterminated, this in the name of combating racism. The more fundamental question is whether it is the case that Anti-Zionism is simply a form of racism. The answer was demonstrated for all at Durban. Yes it is. The United States and Israel walked out of the world conference on racism in Durban, denouncing the "hateful language" of its draft declaration. The anti-Israel language that the United States found intolerable is daily fare for Israelis. It is a true reflection of the hate propaganda disseminated day and night – not only by Palestinian media, but by many Arab spokesmen and even by Israeli Arab leaders, including members of the Israeli parliament. "The Jews were branded as racists, ethnic cleansers, genocides, while the Arabs are depicted as innocent victims of Jewish fascists and murderers. Older Israelis are painfully reminded of the pre-state Arab pogroms against the Jewish communities of Palestine, and the infamous Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini, who went to Berlin in 1938 to discuss with Hitler ways of annihilating the Jews of Palestine. Palestinians and Israeli Arabs are using the same language as their forbears, fighting as they did in the days before there was a State of Israel.

Sept. 4…. Saudi King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah delivered a statement to Yasser Arafat from US President George W. Bush. Arafat, whom the Crown Prince summoned urgently from Durban, South Africa was discountenanced by being handed not an American invitation to the White House, but an angry American warning. He was also taken aback by the number of high-ranking Saudi princes waiting for him with grave faces: the Crown Prince, foreign minister Saud el-Faisal, General Intelligence chief Nawaf Bin Abdulaziz, ambassador to Washington Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, who is the son of the defense minister, and Abdullah’s two most senior advisers, Emir Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah and Emir Dr. Bandar Ben Salman. Sources report that the Saudis confronted Arafat with a pile of intelligence data handed to them by the Americans verifying that Arafat’s intelligence and terrorist organs had set up a series of hits against US targets and interests in the Persian Gulf and throughout the Middle East, and were only waiting for Arafat’s final signal to go ahead.

Sept. 4…. Hezbullah is set to open a "second front" on Israel's northern border with Lebanon, according to Israeli intelligence reports. The Syrian-backed guerrillas believe that months of sustained terrorist attacks have weakened Jerusalem's will to mount an effective defense. There is concern that the Shi'ite Muslim group may mount cross-border rocket attacks and attempt to kidnap Israeli soldiers and civilians. The warnings also prompted Israeli government officials to undertake an intensive round of diplomatic lobbying, backed by threats of military action against Syrian targets in Lebanon. Ariel Sharon has undertaken a visit to Moscow to discuss this scenario with Russian leader Putin.

The intelligence reports said that Syria and Iraq have stepped up financial backing of the Palestinian intifada. In the last three months 10 per cent of the revenue from oil pumped through Iraq to the Syrian port of Baniyas has been donated to Hamas, which just two weeks ago opened an office in Baghdad. Although the fighting in the West Bank and Gaza Strip has been Israel's main preoccupation, army officers believe that the northern border remains the most likely flash-point for a wider Israel-Arab conflict.
