Our President is preoccupied with enacting more
and more gun control restrictions as a means to cure
our society's ills. But the enactments of a continually
multiplying list of legislative proposals merely reflects
the fact that the governance of our society is proving
steadily to be more and more difficult.
Conversely a society that is governed by the laws
of the Creator does not need an ever growing legal
code to constrain itself to a standard of morality.
God literally writes his law upon the hearts and
conscience of his people. Accountability to the God
of all creation is the great inhibitor to immorality.
All nations conform themselves to the law of its
religion. India derives its code of moral standard via
the religion of Hinduism, Japan derives its codes of
moral ethic from its religious base in Buddhism.
Non-religious nations usually require a supreme
state dictator with a vast police force to enforce its
determination of law upon the populace. Atheistic
nations naturally find it difficult to control its civil
populations simply because there is no religious law
that compels its citizenry to behave in any idealistic
fashion.
The concept of separation of church and state has
historically been a popular philosophy in those areas
where there is a backlash against the religion which
was prevalent, or in nations where there is prominent
competitive religions vying for influence.
Separation of church and state ideology is often
pervasive in nations that are agnostic, humanistic, or
outright atheistic.
In any society, the state, its religion, and its local
families make up the interconnecting model of its
functionality. When these three areas do not exhibit
a correlation, then a conflict emerges; which if left
to the nature of fallen mankind, produces a society
in decline and decay.
Is it any wonder we find the devil attacking the
institution of the family so much? The family has
been the backbone of human civilization from the
very beginning of time. And yet today, the American
family base is disintegrating at an alarming rate.
The American churches of today, by and large are
a cadre of impotent social clubs, which are a mockery
of the church of early America! Lastly, the American
institution of government is a reflection of a people
wholly given over to indulging itself in decadence!
So, in the America of today, we have all three of our
major spheres of human preservation living on the list
of endangered species; and neither of the three even so
much as recognizes the fact that the symptoms of their
plight are inter-related; and that the only diagnosis for
a cure to our national sickness is God, and his law.
Just as our society is tri-dimensional, so also is every
individual componet (people), body, soul, spirit. Until we
recognize that we have neglected the internal design of
our being, we will continue on a path ever downward!
Ancient Israel was incorporated into a sovereign state
only after God had inculcated his law into its national
psyche.
Having promised the Israelites a land to nurture its
future generations in, God permitted Israel to wander in
the wilderness to make them more pliable to a higher
standard of ethic and righteousness.
Then, God said to Israel in Deuteronomy 4:1 and in
8:1 that Israel could enjoy the bounty of a good land if
it merely followed his statutes and commandments. Also
Israel was promised perpetual success; socially, culturally,
and governmentally in the land if it continued steadfast
in his law.
Deuteronomy 4:8 And what nation is there so great, that
hath statutes and judgements so righteous as all this law, which
I set before you this day?
God's law produced wise and understanding people,
as indicated in Deuteronomy 4:6. Indeed it must be so
that if there be a Creator, it must also be that his law
would be supreme. The laws of the universe would be
his design; including laws of science, laws of the physical
and spiritual world alike.
Listen to these verses concerning God's laws:
Psalms 19:7-8 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting
the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the
simple.
Isaiah 45:19 I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things
that are right!
How about that? God declares what is right! How is
it that he determines what is right? His assertion that he
declares what is right is the very thing that is such an
affront to natural man today.
So then, if God exists, and he has designed all of the
creation, that creation can only be sustained amidst a
designed law of governance.
Colossians 1:16 tells us that all things consist by him!
When we consider that all of the universe reflects an
intricate design for the express purpose of providing a
suitable habitat on only the planet earth for life to be
sustained, we must conclude that the same intricate care
was given to provide for that creature's social, spiritual,
and governmental welfare.
And so it is. That is exactly the historical testament
of the called out nation of Israel. Israel has been God's
legal pattern for all the nations of the world.
Thus it has ever been that the law of God exposed
to the world through the national vehicle of Israel; and
its seed, the church of Jesus Christ; has brought contrast
to the law of humanistic governance.
Sir William Blackstone gave a name to this concept
of Divine law in the 17th century. He referred to it as
Natural Law, or The Divine Law of God.
In the days when there were no Harvards, or Yales,
or Georgetowns; there was a thirst for a system of law
based upon the perfect law of God. In the early part of the 18th century, many inspired
and intelligent thinkers established the basis of Divine
Law which would culminate in the birth of the new
nation conceived in Liberty, the United States.
Great Britains Christian leader Sir Minister William
Blackstone wrote the basis of what would become the
American republican form of government, "Blackstones
Commentaries on the Law". The foundational thought
of this law was simply that the laws of nature are Gods
law, and that all rights and privileges are granted to us
by God. He further stated, "Mankind being a creature
of design by the Creator is subject to those laws of his
maker:.
Other notable quotes by aspirants of natural law are:
France's Baron Montesquieu: Society not withstanding
all of its many revolutions must repose on Laws that do
not ever change!
George Mason: "The laws of nature are the laws of the
almighty God, whose authority is superseded by no other
power on earth or beyond.
Thus when the great awakening occurred in America
in the early 1700's, the stage was set for the birth of a
new nation conceived not only in Liberty, but bathed
in the Christian principles espoused in the Holy Bible.
In reality, the foundational document of the United
States was not the constitution, but the Bible itself, for
our Constitution expressed the following:
"Rights do not come from government, but from God,
as it is God who ordains government to secure all the
inalienable rights endowed to man by his Creator"!
It was from such principles as these that our founding
fathers were inspired to include the following statement
in our Declaration of Independence:
We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men
are created equal; that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these
are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that to
secure these rights governments are instituted among men,
deriving their powers from the consent of those being
governed.
The Declaration of Independence instigated the idea
that our nation was to operate under the natural law of
God, because true Liberty is granted only by the Creator.
That the United States was founded upon natural law is
further demonstrated by the definitions offered by the
founding fathers themselves: please note:
1. The Constitution itself says; Rights do not come from
the government to the people, but from the people who
in turn derive those rights from their Creator.
2. George Washington said: "It is impossible to rightly
govern without the precepts of God and the Holy Bible.
3. Patrick Henry said: Our nation was founded not by
religionists, but by Christians who believed on the Gospel
of Jesus Christ!
4. Noah Webster, the founder of Webster's dictionary;
when defining the new law of America stated: All our
citizens should understand that the actual source of the
republican principles designed in our law is none else
but the Holy Bible!
5. James Madison concurred by stating that the most
effective institution for promoting civility and integrity
within our society, thereby upbraiding the law of the
land, is the institution of the Church.
All the signing founders were concerned about trying
to establish a republican form of governance because it
was uppermost in their minds and hearts to fabricate a law
that would embellish the likelihood of perpetuating the
Christian order within the new nation for succeeding
generations to come.
Thomas Jefferson further stated: "Can the Liberties
of a nation be secure if we remove the the conviction
that all liberty is the gift of God?
John Adams said: "The question of humanity deals
with the idea as to whether the God of nature shall
govern the world by his own laws, or whether we will
grant that privilege to priests and kings".
THIS NATION WAS FOUNDED AS
A CHRISTIAN NATION FOR THE
EXPRESS PURPOSE OF ENHANCING
THE LIKLIHOOD OF ITS CITIZENS
TO FIND TRUE SALVATION.
