Sought Out: A City Not Forsaken

II Chronicles 6:6 But I ( God ) have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

The controversy brewing over the city of Jerusalem today stems from the fact that God has begun the gradual providential process of choosing once again to return his son Jesus Christ to the city. Presently in the unseen supernatural world, there is an immense struggle raging between the forces of Satan, and God’s Holy angels. Satan, the great Red Dragon of Revelation chapter 12, is already anticipating the dawning of the day when the war over the sovereign right to rule in Jerusalem shall explode with full force upon this world. Every single nation of this world is already being strategically locked into position, either through their choosing to recognize God’s design for his chosen nation Israel, or by striving to oppose the right of Jesus Christ to reign over a redeemed Israel; as King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Israel is expecting the arrival of its long awaited Messiah to coordinate the privilidge to rebuild their ancient temple atop the contested holy mountain of Zion. The illustrious think tanks of international peace, and the unity of brotherhood, are even now formulating new concepts of resolution to finally manufacture a Regional peace in the Middle East. The collapse of the so-called “Clinton Plan” now exposes the fact that Israel’s claims upon the Temple Mount must now be factored into any future formula for peace in the region. It is all too apparent to me that the prophetic scenario Biblically forecast for the last days emergence of the Antichrist is perfectly well established, and soon to be played out on the world’s stage of history.

It ought to be transparently obvious to every Christian around the world that what is transpiring in the Middle East today is of extreme prophetic significance. There would not even exist the slightest controversy swirling around Jerusalem if it weren’t for the fact that God has singled it out as the place for his name, and has never altogether abandoned Israel; and has returned them back unto Jerusalem for the express purpose of fulfilling his promise to establish His throne, in His city, upon His Holy Mountain!

The world’s resolve to administer its own solution to the ever Increasingly burdensome dilemma of the city of Jerusalem shall most assuredly be dealt with by God almighty. He who forsook Israel, and Jerusalem is watching over her once again today!

The expectation that God should return his divine attention to the city of Jerusalem is prevalent throughout much of the Old Testament scriptures. The following verses extol the fact that Jerusalem is not eternally forsaken, and that God shall yet choose the city for his habitation Psalms 102:13,16 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; for the time to favor her, yea, the “set time” is come. When the Lord shall build up Zion, he (God) shall appear in his glory.

Psalms 147:2 The Lord doth build up Jerusalem; He (God) gathereth together the outcasts of Israel (worldwide gathering)

Psalms 132:13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he (God) hath desired it for his “habitation”. ( a future dwelling ) This is my rest forever, here will I dwell, for I (God) have desired it.

Psalms 2:6 Yet I have set my King ( Jesus ) upon my holy hill of Zion.

Psalms 102:16-21 When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory…...to declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem.

Psalms 125:1 They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.

These verses reveal the reason that Israel has mourned for the restoration of Jerusalem for two thousand years. God’s plans for peace in this world are tied to the restoration of this city. A foundation stone was laid in this city two thousand years ago when Jesus came and victoriously effectuated the building of the promised “New Jerusalem”! Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, behold I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation, he that believeth (believe in Jesus as the stone) shall not make haste. Jesus Christ is that sure foundation stone that embodies the cornerstone that God laid for the construction of the Holy City, and on that set day, (Psalms 102:13) the day when he shall yet again set his hand to make Jerusalem a praise upon the Earth. Daniel 2:34 portrayed that stone, smiting the image of world power, and afterwards becoming a great mountain of power and praise throughout the whole world.

Amos 1:2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem.

The Lord God conveyed this promise through Isaiah as well. Contained within chapter sixty-two of the book of the prophet Isaiah is the words which I hold to be of utmost importance in God’s plan of the ages, the plan to seek out Jerusalem during the last days. Isaiah 62:1-4 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for “Jerusalem’s sake” I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory; and thou shalt be called by a new name, which mouth of the Lord shall name.

Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

Thou shalt no more be termed “Forsaken”, neither shall thy land any more be termed “Desolate”; but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah, for the Lord de-lighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

For as a young man marrieth a virgin so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall I thy God rejoice over thee. I have set “watchmen” upon thy walls, “O Jerusalem”, which shall never hold their peace day nor night, ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence,       And give him no rest, till he (God) establish and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

The nations of this world need to come to the realization of the fact that God’s watchmen are overlooking the controversy regarding the Holy Hill of Zion. He has gathered together the outcast. (Israel) He has returned Jerusalem to the sovereignty of his regathered people. He is set to once again use his strong right hand to carve out his dwelling place among his people.

Jesus himself alluded to the idea that Jerusalem would again become the domain of the Kingdom of God. In Luke 21:24, it was recorded that the city of Jerusalem would remain trodden down of the Gentile nations until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. The sand which made up the that particular span of time is quickly emptying from its hourglass. Therefore, the nations of this world are mad, and are attempting to interrupt the plan of God to once again build up the forsaken city, and make it a praise in the earth. The devilishy inspired revolution amongst the Gentile nations to oppose the reacquisition of the city of Jerusalem by God’s chosen people is only serving to fill up God’s wrath against them.

Zechariah 8:2-3 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. Thus saith the Lord, I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain.

Zechariah chapter one reveals that God is not only jealous over Jerusalem, but that he is very angry with all the nations that oppose his right to reign in the city. Zech. 1:16 and Amos 9:11 also exposes the fact that God will rebuild his house in Jerusalem. It is this vision that the Jerusalem Rally throng had within its perspective. ( rebuilding the Temple ) But, in reality the rebuilding of a house for God prior to the return of Jesus Christ can only serve the scheme of the Antichrist.

Rather than anticipating the rebuilding of a third temple in the City of Jerusalem, I am looking for a city whose builder and maker is God almighty. There is a song which goes like:

Looking for a city, Where we’ll never die,
There with all the sainted millions, We’ll never say goodbye
There we’ll meet our blessed Savior, and our loved ones too!
Come oh come King Lord Jesus; All our hopes renew!
Looking for a city, and our home on high

Isaiah 65:18-19 But be ye glad and rejoice forever in that which I create: for behold I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of the crying.       That sounds like a city called the “NEW JERUSALEM” to me! It is the city which God has built for a New Mankind, all mankind who are washed in the precious blood of the Jesus!

Isaiah 62:12 And they shall call them, The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord; and thou shalt be called;
“Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken”
( the end )
