Oslo: A Peace Process or a Trojan Horse?

After the victorious display of modern superpower weaponry by the United Nations coalition of forces arrayed against Iraq in 1991, the world decided it was time to do something about the conflict between Israel and the Arab world. So, although Israel had no history of antagonizing her neighbors, and not even once initiated an offensive against any of her Arab neighbors, but four times had been the victim of gang attacks by her Arab neighbors, and although Iran had fought a war with Iraq, and Syria had demolished tiny Lebanon, and Iraq had invaded Kuwait, the world decided something must be done with tiny little Israel if there was to be a Regional Peace in the Middle East. Strange it is that the world felt so compelled to bring down the hammer against the most peace-loving nation in the world.

Thus in October of 1991, a conference was convened and met in the city of Madrid, Spain to inaugurate direct peace talks between Israel and her Arab neighbors. Subsequently, bilateral negotiations were conducted between Israel and Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the Palestinians, as well as multilateral talks on key regional issues. The Madrid conference for Middle East Peace was sponsored by ten nations, with the chief sponsorship coming from the United States and the former Soviet Union. The Lords and Nobles of the world conveyed upon Yasser Arafat, Shimon Peres and slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for their roles in forging an agreement to embark upon a formula for peace which they entered on August 20, 1993, in Washington D.C.

The Oslo Accords, formulated in secret negotiations in Oslo, Norway, under the auspices of European oversight became the model for proceeding down a prescribed pathway to an eventual Middle East Peace. The model was followed in a painstaking fashion for seven years. Finally, after entering the Final Negotiation Phase, and tackling the issues of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, the entire Peace Process came crashing down under the burdensome weight of Jerusalem. The last ten months has witnessed the ongoing violence of the Temple Mount Intifada. Thus the entire peace process is now preoccupied with researching a methodology of formulating a solution to the Temple Mount controversy while establishing or stabilizing a systematic cessation of the violence. Ironically, Yasser Arafat had to be coerced by the sponsoring nations of the peace conference to renounce terrorism and violence as a means of strategy or positioning to enhance his negotiating standing.

LETTER FROM YASSER ARAFAT TO NORWEGIAN FOREIGN MINISTER:

September 9, 1993
His Excellency
Johan Jorgen Holst
Foreign Minister of Norway
Dear Minister Holst,

I would like to confirm to you that, upon the signing of the Declaration of Principles, the PLO encourages and calls upon the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to take part in the steps leading to the normalization of life, rejecting violence and terrorism, contributing to peace and stability and participating actively in shaping reconstruction, economic development and cooperation. The PLO commits itself to the Middle East peace process, and to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two sides and declares that all outstanding issues relating to permanent status will be resolved through negotiations. The PLO considers that the signing of the Declaration of Principles constitutes a historic event, inaugurating a new epoch of peaceful coexistence, free from violence and all other acts which endanger peace and stability. Accordingly, the PLO renounces the use of terrorism and other acts of violence and will assume responsibility over all PLO elements and personnel in order to assure their compliance, prevent violations and discipline violators.
Sincerely,
Yasser Arafat
Chairman: The Palestine Liberation Organization

Thus it was that Israeli Prime Minister Yitshak Rabin, at the insistence of Shimon Peres signed the following document on behalf of the nation of Israel, and began the historic peace process.

LETTER FROM PRIME MINISTER RABIN TO YASSER ARAFAT:

September 9, 1993
Yasser Arafat
Chairman
The Palestinian Liberation Organization
Mr. Chairman,

In response to your letter of September 9, 1993, I wish to confirm to you that, in light of the PLO commitments included in your letter, the Government of Israel has decided to recognize the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people and commence negotiations with the PLO within the Middle East Peace Process.
Sincerely,
Yitzhak Rabin
Prime Minister of Israel

Faisal Husseini had been the chief advisor to the Palestinian Authority throughout the Oslo Middle East peace process. It was actually Husseini that coordinated the diplomatic game-plan in co-operation with Yasser Arafat’s PLO Fatah terror infrastructure.

On his way to Kuwait, where he later died of a heart attack, PLO senior adviser Feisal al-Husseini gave what turned out to be his last interview. It was carried by the Egyptian Nasserite daily, "Al-Arabi". Following are excerpts of his comments from that interview:

Following the signing of the Oslo Accords... I said three things: number one; that after a long period of "pregnancy" we could bring a child ( Palestine Authority ) into the world. However small, it is still our child, and we must nurture, strengthen and develop it so that he is able to stand on his own two feet. ( Palestine Authority ) The Jews infiltrated our country using various methods; using all kinds of passports. They even had to face humiliation but they did it all for one goal: To enter our country and root themselves in it prior to our expulsion out of it. We must act in the same way they did. Secondly, we must return to the land, settle it, and develop new roots in our land from where we were expelled; whatever the price may be. Third, the ancient Greek Army was unable to break into Troy due to internal disputes and disagreements. The Greek forces started retreating one after the other, and the Greek king ended up facing the walls of Troy all by himself, and he too suffered from illnesses and internal disputes, and ended up leading a failed assault on Troy’s walls. Following these events the people of Troy climbed on top of the walls of their city and could not find any traces of the Greek army, except for a giant wooden horse. They cheered and celebrated thinking that the Greek troops were routed, and while retreating, they left a harmless wooden horse as the spoils of war. So Troy opened the gates of the city and brought in the wooden horse. This allowed the Greeks to overwhelm the city. This is precisely the strategy of the Palestinian Authority. Had the U.S. and Israel not realized, before Oslo, that all that was left of the Palestinian National movement and the Pan-Arab movement was a wooden horse called Yasser Arafat or the PLO, they would never have opened their fortified gates and let it inside of their walls! Now, We are Inside of Israel! Now, the time has come for us to say: "Come out of the horse and start fighting". So, it is thanks to this horse (Oslo) that we were able to get into the walled-in city. ( Jerusalem ) In my opinion, the Intifada represents in and of itself the emergence out of the horse. Praise Allah, by now we have all come out of the horse, those who were with Arafat and those from the opposition. (Hamas and Holy Jihad terrorists)

Mr Husseini: What are the strategic goals of the Palestinian Authority and What are the borders of the Palestinian state that you are referring to, and what kind of "Jerusalem" would you accept as the capital of your future state of Palestine?
Answer: With this question you are dragging me into talking about what we refer to as our "strategic goals" and our "political goals", or the "Phased Plan". The "strategic" goals are the "higher goals," or the "long-term goals," or the "unwavering goals," the goals that are based on solid Pan-Arab historic rights and principles. Whereas the "political" goals are those goals which were set for a temporary time frame, considering the constraints of the existing international system, the balance of power, our own abilities, and other considerations which vary from time to time. When we beseeched all the Palestinian forces and factions to look at the Oslo Agreement and at other agreements as temporary procedures, or "phased goals", this means that we are ambushing the Israelis and cheating them. However, the truth is that we are doing exactly what they did. We are acting exactly like them. In 1947, in accordance with the UN Partition Plan, they accepted partition and declared statehood on 25% of the land of Palestine, which they were able increase to 78% during the War of 1948, and then again during the War of 1967,and 1973. Despite all that, they never attempted to make secret of their long-term goal, which is "Greater Israel" from the Nile to the Euphrates. Similarly, if we shall declare our state on only 22% of the eventual state of Palestine, it will not preempt us from accumulating a larger slice of the pie later. The West Bank and Gaza makes up our immediate goal, our ultimate goal is still the liberation of all of historical Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, even if this means that the conflict will last for another thousand years, or for many generations. If you are asking me as a Pan-Arab Nationalist what are the Palestinian borders according to the higher strategy, I will immediately reply: "From the river to the sea". Palestine in its entirety is an Arab land, the land of the Arab nation, a land no one can sell or buy, and it is impossible to remain silent while someone is stealing it, even if this requires time and even if it means paying a high price. If you are asking me, as a man who belongs to the Islamic faith, my answer is also "From the river to the sea," the entire land is an Islamic land, which can not be bought or sold, and it is impossible to remain silent while someone ( Israel ) is stealing our land!

Perhaps Mr. Husseini should be taken for his word. While Husseini carried a reputation for diplomatic intellectualism and eloquence, and disassociated himself from Arafat’s little band of terrorists, he none the less helped establish the basis of Palestinian participation in the Middle East Peace game.
Operating aside from Yasser Arafat, and the PLO’s Fatah organization, he articulated the scenario by which a foothold inside of Israel could be more easily attained. His interview reveals that he retained on the diplomatic front precisely the same agenda as Arafat seeks to attain through violence-terror, and war-rumoring management. The Phased Plan of the Palestine Liberation Organization was and remains with the intent to exterminate the nation of Israel; sooner-or-later!

The PLO's "Phased Plan"

In the October 1973 Yom Kippur War, the Arab states launched a surprise attack against Israel on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. Once again they tried to eliminate Israel, further motivated this time by the desire to redeem their honor after their major defeat in the 1967 Six-Day War. Though Israel was initially caught off guard, it then regrouped and repelled the Arab attack, but not before incurring heavy casualties. The war convinced the Arabs that they would not be able to destroy Israel militarily within its post-1967 boundaries. Thus they embarked upon a new three-stage strategy for Israel's destruction, embodied in the PLO's 1974 decision commonly known as the Phased Plan (the text of which is below).

The plan in brief:
  1. Through the "armed struggle" (i.e., terrorism), to establish an "independent combatant national authority" over any territory that is "liberated" from Israeli rule. (Article 2)
  2. To continue the struggle against Israel, using the territory of the national authority as a base of operations. (Article 4)
  3. To provoke an all-out war in which Israel's Arab neighbors destroy it entirely ("liberate all Palestinian territory"). (Article 8)

Today, the Phased Plan remains relevant. Speaking just after the 1993 revelation of the Israel-PLO accord, PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat announced that the historic agreement "will be a basis for an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the Palestine National Council resolution issued in 1974.... The PNC resolution issued in 1974 calls for the establishment of a national authority on any part of Palestinian soil from which Israel withdraws or which becomes liberated.

It is no mere coincidence that the present circumstances of violence and terror circumventing all around Israel are taking place. These attention grabbing incidents are part of the game-plan, a plan intended to extract concessions either from Israel, or from pressure applied upon Israel by the chief sponsors of the Middle East Peace Process! ( US, Europe, Russia. Etc. )

Even former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and former US President Bill Clinton have added his voice to those saying that a peace deal will never be reached with the Palestinians as long as Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat is their leader. Barak said, "when "Oslo's assumptions" collapsed, it cast a disturbing shadow in retrospect on what had been hoped for since 1993. Arafat cheated all of us! President Clinton in a Newsweek interview blamed Arafat for the failure of Oslo and also for the failure of his own Presidency. "We thought Arafat could be ingratiated with a legitimate state and the worlds acceptance", Clinton said. We calculated that he aspired to be included among the icons of international leaders and become associated with Peace makers like Sadat and King Hussein.

Camp David proved to be a moment of truth, and the charade of Yasser Arafat masquerading as a "peace partner" became exposed to the electorate of Israel! Hence Israel elected Ariel Sharon to abandon the Trojan Horse scenario.

If the working assumption of Oslo was that the 1993 accords would serve as a kind of filter for the purification of Yasser Arafat and his PLO, it should now be apparent that no such transformation will ever occur. Indeed, any future with Arafat signing any arrangement of any similarity won't work either. The revelation about Yasser Arafat must be coupled with the conclusion that Oslo was a failure, simply because Oslo was based upon a peace partner who did not want peace! Political historians ought to know that covenants with dictators mean absolutely nothing anyway. Arafat’s death would render null and void his signature to any peace agreement, not to mention that he is a liar to start with. Sadly, Shimon Peres still clings to the notion that Arafat is a legitimate peace partner.

In reality, however, the peace process is not about the land. It is about an ancient conflict between two faiths, Judaism and Islam. And the leaders of Islam have used the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States to help them in their Phased Plan scheme to defeat their Zionist enemy. To further complicate matters, both the American and European business, political and intelligence leaders have pre-occupied themselves with the steady flow of oil from the Middle East and the continued dominance of that regions resources of oil.

This old world is now at a very key point in human history. While believer’s may be disappointed and even angered by the actions of the world's super-power-brokers, and their clandestine and covert intelligence operatives scheming on behalf of the Middle East oil companies and producers, and thereby putting the nation of Israel at great risk, the Lord is using these activities to expose the world's evil scheme against Israel, ( Psalms 83 ) and to bring the prophetic nature of our times to a sudden and approaching climax.

The current situation in the Middle East is at a very serious stage. The rumors of War are rampant! Nations are aligning in precisely the prophetic scenario described by Ezekiel and Daniel. Many prophecy watchers believe that, just like the Bible forecasts in Daniel 9:27, the world is nearing the time when a peace process, or "covenant with many for a seven (year period)," will be successfully negotiated by the eventual Antichrist.

Arafat’s dream of a Baghdad-Damascus-Hizballah-Gaza Axis has potentially imperiled Middle East and Persian Gulf stability, and set the stage for war. Syria and Iraq stand ready to assist Arafat in a new Jihad against Israel. The former US regional policy of dual containment against Iran and Iraq is a total failure. Thus the new US Bush Administration’s Middle East foreign policy geo-political game-plan will sideline the Palestinian peace track inclusion option in favor of concentrating on the strategy of securing a Saudi oil alliance, while maintaining its commitment to Israeli security. This redirection of American foreign policy in the Middle East literally will create the opportunity for the parties in the region to look to the European Union to develop, and lead the next Middle East Peace adventure. Again, this ministry has consistently advised all of its readers to watch for the demise of the US sponsored Middle East peace initiative, and to expect a new European led process. After-all, Europe is closer to the arena of conflict than the US, and the Bible indicates that the rising Prince of the last days empire will emerge immediately after the Rapture in the domain of the ancient Roman Empire. ( Daniel 9:26 ) That potential scenario is now established!

I am reminded that former UN ambassador Andrei Gromyko of the former Soviet Union made the motion at the United Nations in 1947 to allow for Israel be permitted statehood. It was not because Russia sympathized with Israel, that she instigated that possibility 54 years ago. Rather, it was the intent of the great Russian bear to assist the Arab enemies of Israel in the Middle East in 1948 to eliminate the small remnant of Jewry that was brought into the vast neighborhood of bullies. Satan’s plan was foiled, because the tiny baby of Israel withstood the onslaught of her Arab adversaries, and has become a stronger nation. Now, the world has planted a Trojan horse inside the little nation of Israel, and the sparks produced by this evil scheme stands ready to explode and engulf the entire region. Yet, I hear the hoof beats of a White Horse rider. The one coming before the Tribulation will appeal to Israel to accept his covenant of Peace. That rider is near.

The seven-year Oslo Peace Process revealed much to those with spiritual eyes to see and spiritual ears to hear. However, the days just ahead of us could be even more significant. Oslo portends the pattern of yet another seven-year-long covenant agreement to come. Oslo left Israel with a Trojan Horse right within its own walls. That horse will now have to be dealt with. And that horse may be a harbinger of the soon coming of the Four horses of the Apocalypse!

Revelation 6:1-8: And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a White Horse: ( Antichrist ) and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
RED HORSE OF WAR And there went out another horse that was Red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a Black Horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a Pale Horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. But, behold: There is coming another WHITE HORSE RIDER, and he is depicted in Revelation 19:11-16:

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a White Horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
