Ye Shall Be Hated

In recent weeks I have watched via many television newscasts a constant parade of massive demonstrations against Israel held in various cities all around the world. I have sat and watched Arab peoples dance in the streets when a Palestinian suicide bomber detonates a body-bomb and dismembers innocent people in a café, a shopping mall, and seated in a restaurant. Then, I have sat in and watched with utter astonishment and amazement as thousands of people took to the streets in Cairo, Baghdad, Damascus, Teheran, Paris, Rome, and many other cities from all parts of the world, chanting “death to Israel”.

In a week when Israeli's stopped for 120 seconds to remember the Nazi Holocaust, it seemed to me that the world is readying itself once again for another onslaught against the Jewish people. The U.N. World Council on Racism last September specifically singled out Israel as the number one perpetrator of racism in the world. The hatred vented towards the tiny country called Israel is surreal. It begs the question, “Why is Israel so hated”? Of all the nations in the world, why is it that one of the very smallest nations is viewed with such disdain and also causes such an uproar of convulsion amongst peoples the world over?

Perhaps the basis for that phenomenon lies in the remarks of Jesus Christ as he forewarned the people of Israel about their coming Time of Trouble.

Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

This is a direct statement that Jesus made concerning the future of Israel. While Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives answering the Disciples questions regarding the Last Days and the situation surrounding the return of Jesus to Israel, Jesus most assuredly looked deep into the faces of his beloved followers and conveyed that they would be hated of all men. It must have been a sad moment.

These words from Jesus own lips carry a heavy weight. They were words that apply to all followers of Jesus, but the specific statement in this context is pointed directly to the descendants of Israel, and in particular the final re-gathered remnant of Jews that comprise the Last Days state of Israel. The Disciples were indeed delivered unto affliction, just as many Christians have also been. The Disciples died as martyrs for their faith, again like many Christians have, and both the people of Israel and the Gentile body of believers called Christians are hated by the world simply because of Christ. But there is an allegory presented in Jesus words that point to a specific era of time when Israel would be hated of all nations for the sake of Jesus name.

The inference of the phrase, “hated of all nations” points out two dynamics regarding the hatred of Israel that Jesus alluded to. Number one is that the nation of Israel would be singled out from the long roll call of nations throughout world history to be specifically “singled out” for the wrath of the whole world. And too out of all the nations in the world, only Israel has been subjected to the hatred that is displayed by a Christ-rejecting world. Secondly, the unanimity of the whole world's venom targeted solely upon one nation is unique to the nation of Israel. When else has the entire world confederated together against a single nation as it today against Israel? This phenomenon of hatred however is soon to become much worse, for the very days that Jesus was alluding to are now upon us.

Why is this so? What is it about Israel that inflames the whole world's wrath against it? Israel was granted the Promised Land by God. In return for God's gracious gift, Israel was beseeched of God to follow his statutes, and to restrain themselves from whoring after other God's. Israel's great curse is that they failed miserably to be faithful to God. Therefore, since Israel followed after other god's, God gave them over to their own lusts. He painted a picture of that disastrous choice before he ever allowed Israel to enter into the Land.

Deuteronomy 28:37 And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the Lord shall lead thee.

Deuteronomy 28:45-46 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.

Psalms 44:13-14 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. Thou makest us a byword among the heathen.

Israel has incurred the curse of evil upon itself through its own disobedience. Such is the end result of all people that forgo God's statutes and repudiate his name. In essence Israel is a pictogram of the whole world's condition. But God will send salvation unto Israel yet again, which in turn is another pictogram of God's grace being extended to all nations presently. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of the nations prefer other god's over the great “I AM” that revealed himself to the world through the nation of Israel. Therefore the nations are being Satanically deceived and demonically inspired to hate the nation that produced the “Son of God”. The world has a natural enmity against Jesus Christ. Even Israel got caught up in that enmity, and failed to recognize the true Messiah! Today, Israel is the very symbolism of God's Divine plan to undo Israel's sin. Just as the blood of Jesus Christ wipes away all sins of a forgiven sinner, God is readying to cleanse Israel and give her a new heart. ( Ezekiel 18:31; Ezekiel 36:26; Jeremiah 31:31; Hebrews 8: 8,13, 24 )

On the day that Israel receives Jesus Christ as her Messiah, the whole world stands to gain a new heart also. God is seeking to bless all nations through Israel. The Church Age is the first installment of that blessing, but the Kingdom Age of Israel will see a Millennium of Peace with Jesus Christ reigning in Jerusalem.

The prospective scenario of Jesus reigning in Jerusalem inflames the fallen hordes of Hell with fear and trepidation. The reason that Jesus informed his Disciples that Israel would be “hated of all nations” is that he could peer down the hallway of time to the day when Israel would be replanted in the Promised Land. Upon that grand review of future history, Jesus could clearly see that the whole world would hate Israel because of his imminent return. Thus he lovingly and with a sense of hope informed Israel, “Ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake”.

That scenario brings me to a second point about the widespread hatred of Israel today. That point is highlighted once again by Jesus in his Olivet Discourse.

Luke 21:9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, “be not terrified”: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Jesus is specifically pointing out to Israel that a phenomenon associated with the rumors of war will be a particular evil called the threat of terror! In this passage is a direct quote, “Be not Terrified”. Jesus certainly envisioned in his prophetic peer into the Last Days that Israel would be subjected to terrorism. Therefore he left this statement urging them to avoid giving into terror. Terrorism today is a method of harassment and inhuman threatening that seeks to inflict terror upon an opponents psyche and mentality in order to gain concessions. The terrorizing party uses hatred to make its victims feel hopeless and helpless, and the acts of terror serve to make the terrorized party cave in to relentless demands.

Yasser Arafat used the peaceful symbolism of the Olive Branch to convey his methodology of terrorism. Appearing before the UN General Assembly in 1974, he made this statement; “I come bearing an olive branch and a freedom fighters gun, do not let the olive branch fall from my hand”! Mr. Arafat was basically saying, “give me what I want or I will be forced to use my gun”. The weapon of choice Arafat uses against Israel is terror, and when Israel fails to meet his demands, or the world doesn't rush to coerce Israel to comply, he inflicts more terror on them. Consequently, Israel finds itself in a very serious dilemma because of the threats-of-terror that she constantly faces. Thus Jesus very own words to Israel, “be not terrified” are applicable today for Israel unlike any other time in their unique history.

Ironic is it not that Israel is restored into the promised Land, is hated of all nations, and subjected to terror, and Jerusalem is a worldly burdensome stone, and the world's solution is to further partition God's land. All of these dynamics demonstrate the tremendous truths of Bible Prophecy, and that the climax to Israel's destiny among the nations is nigh at hand! The nations that hate Israel also hate the God of Israel, and the terrorizing of Israel will bring judgment upon those nations. As God has expressed throughout his word, ( Joel 3:1 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision ) he will gather all nations unto the great valley of decision where he will make war against the haters of Israel!

Isaiah 41:8-11 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

The Lord will not save Israel because they are better than anyone else, but rather he will save Israel simply because he established his covenant with them. The hatred that Satan manifests towards Israel is emblematic of the hate he has for all of mankind. The love that God will demonstrate for Israel is emblematic of the love that God manifested within the body of Israel ( Jesus ) to save all of mankind. The supernatural enmity between God and Satan is coming to a head, and the hatred of Israel in the world portrays that the battleground is being prepared for a “Time of Trouble for Israel” such as she has never seen before. God's name is at stake in this battle! God's holy name has been profaned all around the world, and even Israel has contributed mightily to that cosmic blasphemy. But God is his infinite wisdom and providence will soon work a miracle of such proportions that even the heathen will be convinced of his Glory. The Lord will be sanctified within Israel, which in turn will demonstrate to all created beings the heavenly evidence of the Holiness and righteous might of Jehovah-Yahweh-God almighty!

Ezekiel 36:21-24 But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

As I witness the exasperating unanimity of hatred cast towards Israel today I cannot help but glance just slightly ahead into the coming day of darkness. As I reflect on that terrible episode I am reminded that unclean spirits issued forth from the Antichrist, the False prophet, and the Dragon will compel the nations of the world into a cataclysmic assault upon Israel ending in the epic battle of Armageddon. It seems to me that those demonic spirits are already inciting a “unanimous hate” for Israel. Many of the recent demonstrators in the Arab world actually demanded that their Kings take up arms against Israel in support of the Palestinian cause, and destroy Israel from the face of the earth. It seems that the Kings of the Middle Eastern countries are still a little bit apprehensive about whether or not such a war against Israel would be successful. But soon the Devil will unleash a new wave of hellish evil to convince them. Soon the Antichrist will offer Israel an escape from the world's hate by manufacturing her a safety net from terror, but in reality, Israel will have entered into a covenant with hell itself.

Revelation 16:13-14 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Yes, the spirits of devils are already preparing the world for the great Day of the Lord! The world is indeed confederated together against Israel. The world awaits a leader to express its unanimous hatred for Israel. The Tribulation era is nigh! But to Israel God has left this solemn promise:

Deuteronomy 4:29-30 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto
